HFD member-initiated meeting at the PAA Annual Meeting, 29 April 2015
The HFD Project team organized an HFD side meeting "Human Fertility Database: Expanding research opportunities" at the 2015 PAA Annual Meeting held in San Diego (USA) on 29 April 2015. The HFD Meeting brought together current and potential users of the two fertility data repositories, the Human Fertility Database (HFD) and the Human Fertility Collection (HFC), and researchers responsible for creating and maintaining these databases to discuss available data, methods, new research opportunities, as well as prospects for future expansion.
The first Human Fertility Database Symposium, 3-4 November 2011
The first HFD Symposium on "Period and cohort fertility dynamics in the developed world" was hosted by the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research in Rostock on 3-4 November 2011. The objectives of the Symposium were to promote research on fertility changes and their determinants - especially based on the HFD - as well as to discuss methodological challenges associated with producing and analyzing population-level fertility data. Apart from the purely scientific programme, the participants were invited to provide their feedback and suggestions on the HFD contents, methods and setup, and the directions of its further development.
